Kashmir is a geographical region in the north of the Indian Subcontinent. Throughout the course of the history the geographical expansion of kingdom of Kashmir kept uncertain, however by the mid-nineteenth century, the term Kashmir geographically denoted only the valley between the Great Himalayas & the Pir Panjal mountain range. Today, it denotes a larger area that combine the Indian administered territories of Jammu & Kashmir (which subsist of Jammu, the Kashmir Valley, & Ladakh), the Pakistan administered territories of Azad Kashmir & Gilgit–Baltistan, & the Chinese-administered regions of Aksai Chin & the Trans-Karakoram Tract.
Although Jammu is part of the disputed Kashmir region, it is not geographically part of the Kashmir valley neither the Ladakh locality. The Jammu Division is inhabited by the Dogra people who are historically, culturally, linguistically, & geographically linked with the Punjab locality & the Pahari localities of the former Punjab Hills States that now compose the state of Himachal Pradesh.


Srinagar is the biggest city & the summer capital of the Indian state of J & K. It lies on the banks of the Jhelum River, a dependent of the Indus, & Dal & Anchar lakes. The city is known for its waterfronts, houseboats & gardens. It is also famous for classical Kashmiri handicrafts & dried fruits.


Pahalgam is a town & a notified area chamber in Anantnag district of the Indian state of J & K. It is a famous tourist destination, & every year,alot of tourists visit Pahalgam. This world famous hill station is 45 kilometers from the District main office at Anantnag & placed on the banks of Lidder River at an altitude of 7200 feet from sea level. Pahalgam is 1 among the 5 tehsils of Anantnag district & tehsil headquarters are placed in the main town of Pahalgam. It was once a tourist attraction & a favourite place for shooting of Bollywood films, & is still a health resort.Likewise tourist huts, several hotels in private area have come up here & these hotels provide modern facilities to their guests. A number of treks in this region also start from Pahalgam, as the 35 kilometers trail traverses over pinewoods to the spectacular Kolahoi Glacier.


Gulmarg is a town, a hill station, a famous skiing destination & a notified area chamber in Baramula district in the Indian state of J & K. The town is located in the Pir Pinjal range in the western the Himalayas & is within miles of the LOC (Line of Control) between India & Pakistan.

Dal Lake

Dal Lake is a lake in Srinagar. The civic lake, which is the 2nd biggest in the state, is integral to tourism & recreation in Kashmir. The lake is also a necessary source for monetary operations in fishing & water plant harvesting.
The shore line of the lake, is about 15.5 km, is beset by a boulevard lined with era gardens, parks, houseboats & hotels. Scenic views of the lake can be witnessed from the coast line Mughal gardens, like Shalimar Bagh & Nishat Bagh built during the reign of Mughal czar Jahangir & from houseboats cruising along the lake in the multicolored shikaras.

Mughal Gardens

Mughal gardens are a group of gardens constructed by the Mughals in the Persian style of architecture. This style was thickly changed by the Persian greenhouse specially the Charbagh structure. Significant use of rectilinear designs are built within the walled enclosures. Some of the typical looks include pools, fountains & canals inside the gardens.

Chesma Shahi(Royal Spring)

Chashme Shahi /Chashma i Shahi , also known as Chashma Shahi, is 1 of the Mughal gardens made in 1632 AD around a spring by Ali Mardan Khan, a governor of Mughal czar Shah Jahan as per the orders of the Emperor, as a gift for his elder son Prince Dara Shikoh,. The garden is based in the Zabarwan Range, near Raj Bhawan {Governor‘s house} omit Dal Lake in Srinagar, Kashmir.

Nishat(Garden of Pleasure)

Nishat Bagh is a terraced Mughal garden made on the eastern side of the Dal Lake, close to Srinagar in the state of J & K, India. It is the 2nd largest Mughal garden in the Kashmir Valley. The biggest in size is the Shalimar Bagh, which is also placed on the bank of the Dal Lake. ‘Nishat Bagh’ is Urdu, which describes - Garden of Joy, Garden of Gladness, Garden of Delight.

Shalimar Bagh

Shalimar Bagh is a Mughal garden in India, connected through a channel to the northeast of Dal Lake, on its right bank placed near Srinagar city in J & K. Its other names are Shalimar Garden, Shalimar Bagh, Farah Baksh & Faiz Baksh, & the other famous shore line garden in the proximity is Nishat Bagh. The Bagh was made by Mughal czar Jahangir for his wife Nur Jahan, in 1619. The Bagh is treated the high point of Mughal farming. It is now a civil park.

Jawaharlal Nehru Botanical Garden

The Jawaharlal Nehru Botanical Garden is a botanical greenhouse in Srinagar, J & K- India, set up in 1969 in memory of India's 1st prime minister. It contains many types of plants & vegetation. This garden has a collection of about 1, 50,000 ornamental plants & a big collection of oak varieties. It also has a rare collection of Kashmiri tropical plants.
This garden is placed on the side of a mountain & near to Chashma Shahi, Roop Bhavani Temple, etc. Many people from various areas of world visit this place. Entrance is restricted through ticket.

Sher Garhi Palace

Sher Garhi Palace is a mansion in Srinagar, the capital of Indian state of J & K.The palace is the former residence of the Maharajas of J & K from the Dogra Dynasty. The palace complex is placed in the southern part of the city on the left side of the Jhelum River. Sher Garhi means 'tiger fortress'. The complex was built as a fortress & a mansion by the Afghan governor Jawansher Khan in 1772. The mansion has been extended several times in the nineteenth century. Nowadays, the complex is known as 'Old Secretariat' & houses administrative departments of the govt.of J & K. The mansion was ravaged by fire in the early Twenty first century.

Gulab Bhavan

Gulab Bhavan is a mansion in Srinagar, India. The mansion is a former residence of the Maharaja of J & K from the Dogra dynasty. The mansion lies in the eastern section of the city & overlooks the Dal Lake. The mansion was constructed in 1910 by Maharaja Pratap Singh & has been further decorated by his successor, Maharaja Hari Singh.
After Indian independence Maharaja Hari Singh moved to Mumbai & the palace was converted into "The Grand Palace" hotel in 1956. Bharat Hotels took over the hotel in 1998. They restored the mansion & extended it. In 2008, the hotel was renamed to LaLiT Grand Palace Srinagar, of The LaliT Hotels, Palaces & Resorts.
